On November 23rd, Mr. and Mrs. Simona brought a group of Italian friends and children to the Qingpu center to hold an activity day for the Qingpu children.
Once they arrived, the lovely Italian children joined the local children in an English class. They did plenty of preparation; the objective of this English class was to teach the migrant children the English words for different colors. The Italian children then took out their prepared materials and began to teach the Qingpu children how to paint the rainbow using their favorite colors. The Qingpu children all diligently painted the rainbow and were very happy with their masterpiece. Later the Italian children helped the Qingpu children review their painted rainbow as they taught them the English word for the different colors.
The youngest Italian volunteer was only 7-year old, but he was a very serious teacher. He repeated“ PURPLE, ZI SE, PURPLE, ZI SE”, again and again. Sometimes the Qingpu children would get distracted, but he would remind them to pay attention and the importance of learning English. He is a very responsible little volunteer.
Some of the older volunteers and center children played football outdoors led by Center Teacher Mr. Huang.
After the fun outdoor and indoor activities, Simona and her friends brought the children hand-made cake. The Italian children helped to serve the food and drinks to the Qingpu children.
The Qingpu children learned a lot from the Italian group, but most importantly they learned about love and helping one another.
